This past weekend was a truly fantastic experience as we took part in the Clydebuilt Festival in Glasgow. The festival, a celebration of the city’s renowned shipbuilding and industrial heritage, brought together people from all walks of life to honour the Clyde’s iconic role in shaping Glasgow’s past and future. It provided the perfect platform for us to showcase HMS Ambuscade/PNS Tariq, coinciding with the opening of the latest bridge connecting the north and south sides of Glasgow at Govan and Partick.
The enthusiasm we received from those who attended was overwhelming, as they connected with the ship’s legacy and the impact it will have on restoring the pride of the Clyde’s rich maritime history. The Clydebuilt Festival offered a vibrant mix of live music, performances, food stalls, and maritime activities, all set against the backdrop of the river that once powered Scotland’s industrial might.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to David O’Neill, Liz Holt, Catherine O’Neill and Duncan Lustig-Prean, whose support was invaluable in helping us handle the high levels of interest from visitors. It’s always encouraging to hear such positive feedback from people who recognize the potential significance of Ambuscade/Tariq’s arrival here on the river.
Many attendees had excellent questions about the ship and our plans for her future location. It was clear from the conversations we had that people are excited about what this project represents – not just for naval heritage but also for the cultural and historical pride of Glasgow.
The fantastic weather and the sense of community spirit made it all the more enjoyable. A lot of good humour was shared, and it was a pleasure to meet so many like-minded individuals who are keen to support this effort. Events like the Clydebuilt Festival remind us how deeply rooted the maritime history of the Clyde is in Glasgow’s identity, and how projects like HMS Ambuscade/Tariq’s return will play a role in preserving that heritage.
If you’d like to be involved or offer your support, please don’t hesitate to contact us via www.clydenaval.co.uk Together, we can bring HMS Ambuscade/PNS Tariq home to the Clyde, where she belongs.
Thank you again to everyone who came out, asked questions, and showed your support. We’re excited about the journey ahead and look forward to the next steps.
